As a member of the team, you should be able to learn new concepts quickly and feel at home in a new and constantly evolving space.The Role: We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to drive and define the technology and product vision for how Alexa helps in the household, delights customers, and continues to make Alexa News a key part of everyone's day.As a Software Development Engineer on the team, you will help define the software architecture to support this vision and work alongside a team of developers to implement it.
You will work closely with Product Managers and your development counterparts to deeply understand customer needs, iteratively refine the product, and continuously improve the customer experience.

establish design principles, select design patterns, and instill software development best practices across multiple teams.- Anticipate bottlenecks and manage trade-offs, balancing business needs against technical constraints while providing escalation management when needed.- Drive technical consensus and collaboration — work effectively with team members to align on technical decisions and execute them.

Your peers include other engineers, voice and visual designers, program managers and product managers.
You will work in groups to find the best solution for our customers and build and maintain the software to bring those solutions to our customers.- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalentOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
