As a Composites Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Performing kit cutting, ensuring accurate and precise patterns are obtained.
- Mixing resins and other materials following established process specifications and work instructions.
- Preparing mould tools for the lamination process, ensuring proper mould release application.
- Manufacturing conforming composite parts using wet layup, resin infusion, resin transfer moulding, prepreg moulding, filament winding and compression moulding processes.
- Overseeing the curing process to ensure proper material consolidation and strength.
- Carrying out trimming and machining of composite parts to meet specifications.
- Applying paint and coatings as required, achieving the desired finish.
Requirements:
- Diploma in plastic engineering/mechanical engineering/chemical engineering.
- Proven experience in composites manufacturing processes and joining techniques.
- Proficient in kit cutting, lamination, curing, trimming, and painting of composite materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with excellent precision and craftsmanship.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively.
- Exceptional teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable - 5+ years of experience in composite processing methods such as wet layup, resin infusion, resin transfer moulding, filament winding, compression moulding and prepreg moulding.
- Advanced vocational training or certification in composites manufacturing or a related field.
- Experience working with advanced composite materials and aerospace components.
- Familiarity with CNC machines and other relevant equipment.
- Strong understanding of ISO9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
