Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled API & Security Integration Developer to design, develop, and secure enterprise API and middleware integration solutions.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with IBM DataPower, Apigee, and API Gateway technologies, with strong expertise in API security, transformation, and messaging integration.
This role focuses on building secure, scalable, and high-performing API solutions that enable digital integration across applications, services, and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain APIs and integrations using IBM DataPower and Apigee API Gateway.
- Implement and manage API security mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, Mutual TLS, and SSL/TLS certificates.
- Perform XML and JSON transformations, including XSLT, XPath, and schema validation.
- Integrate APIs with enterprise middleware systems such as IBM MQ and backend applications.
- Implement and enforce API governance, throttling, and access control policies.
- Monitor API performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for scalability and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and seamless data flow between systems.
- Participate in security reviews, vulnerability assessments, and compliance audits for APIs and middleware.
- Support CI/CD automation for API deployments and configurations.
- Maintain technical documentation, best practices, and standards for API design and security.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataPower Gateway (development, configuration, and deployment).
- Solid working experience with Apigee Edge or Apigee X API management platform.
- Proficiency in API Gateway design, API proxies, policies, and traffic management.
- Expertise in XML, XSLT, XPath, and JSON for data transformation and validation.
- Experience in OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSL/TLS, and mutual authentication.
- Good understanding of API lifecycle management, API security, and integration best practices.
- Experience integrating with IBM MQ, web services (SOAP/REST), and microservices-based systems.
- Strong understanding of middleware security principles, encryption, and key management.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, etc.) for automated API deployments.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in complex integration and security scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Kong, MuleSoft, or AWS API Gateway is an added advantage.
- Experience with SAML, LDAP, or OpenID Connect for authentication and authorization.
- Understanding of web application firewalls (WAFs) and Zero Trust architecture.
- Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- IBM DataPower or Apigee certification is highly desirable.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
