The Amazon Books team is seeking a Application Engineering Manager II to manage & improve our application engineering & RPA development support offered to various partner orgs within Books.

The candidate will lead a specialized automation team within the Risk, Operations, Success and Engagement (ROSE) organization that creates automation tools and applications to improve operational efficiency.

They'll also oversee the development of various automation solutions including operational workflows, dashboards, data validation tools, marketing automation, and RPA bots.

Key job responsibilities
Managing a team of Support Engineers who work on process automation and application development for multiple business teams within Books.
Drive implementation of automated solutions to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency across partner organizations.
Drive business initiatives and identify gaps in existing processes
Create and implement automation solutions aimed at reducing cost and improving quality
Oversee development of operational workflows, dashboards, and RPA bots

About the team
The Katalyst-Tech team is a part of the Risk, Operations, Success, and Engagement (ROSE) organization.

We provide Process automation, Application development, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) services to multiple partner teams (Books, Music, AWS ) with a skilled group of Application Engineers, RPA Developers, and System Development Engineers.
We have built and maintain over 150 bespoke applications, internal tools, and backend services used daily across Books Operations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of software development experience
- 3+ years of software development and delivery experience
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
- Expertise in building full stack applications using Java/Javascript/Python
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
- Experience with designing and building applications using container and serverless technologies
- Strong technical knowledge in automation technologies, particularly RPA platforms like UiPath, and ability to lead complex projects spanning multiple locations.
- Excellent project management capabilities to coordinate automation initiatives that deliver measurable business benefits and ROI.
- Experience with using AWS services like Lambda, RDS, ECS/EKS and Bedrock
- Experience in deployments with AWS CDK/Cloudformation/Terraform
