We are seeking a skilled CFD Engineer with experience in project-based consulting, ANSYS Fluent, HAP, and IES software.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics, heating and ventilation system design, and energy modeling.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality CFD simulations to analyze airflow, pollutant dispersion, and thermal distribution.
- Build CFD models from 3D CAD geometries, applying best practices in meshing and setup.
- Set up physics models and numerical schemes appropriate for engineering problems.
- Troubleshoot simulation issues and ensure reliable outputs.
- Analyze simulation results to extract actionable insights and optimize ventilation system design.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve car park ventilation design (fan placement, duct sizing, inlet/outlet placement).
- Conduct iterative simulations to meet required standards for ventilation performance.
- Lead or contribute to CFD studies related to:
- Fire and smoke dispersion in underground car parks, tunnels, and stations
- Pedestrian comfort and air quality modeling
- Hydraulic modeling for water utility installations
- Provide fluid dynamics and thermal consultation to interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in project technical meetings and internal stakeholder communications.
- Use 1D simulation data to enhance and validate 3D CFD models.
- Perform engineering calculations including fire curves, Heat Release Rate (HRR), ASET/RSET.
- Conduct HVAC load calculations using HAP/IES software.
- Design HVAC systems, ductwork, and piping layouts using CAD tools.
- Select appropriate HVAC equipment based on simulation data and system requirements.
- Integrate sustainable engineering practices to reduce environmental impact.
Candidate Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- 5–6 years of hands-on experience in CFD analysis, energy modeling, and HVAC simulations.
- Proficiency in software tools such as:
- ANSYS Fluent, FDS
- HAP, IES
- Familiarity with programming languages: Python, C++, VBA, UDFs.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally for short durations (1–2 weeks).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with UDFs and energy modeling.
- BIM-based engineering design development.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Flexibility to support other engineering tasks in the absence of numerical simulation jobs.
