About this Role

We are looking for a collaborative and skilled individual to lead the architecture and management of private cloud platforms.

This role involves designing and implementing virtualised computing resources, container orchestration platforms, and automation frameworks, while ensuring high availability, performance, and cost-efficiency.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to align platform strategies with organisational goals and drive innovation in cloud-native application delivery.

Who are you

• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing private cloud environments, with a strong understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and CaaS models.
  
  
• Expertise in hypervisors such as VMware and KVM, container platforms including Docker and Kubernetes, and orchestration tools.
  
  
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud integration.
  
  
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
  
  
• Knowledge of cloud security frameworks and the ability to integrate security controls into cloud architectures.
  
  
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  
  
• Proven ability to lead change management initiatives and collaborate effectively across teams.
  
  
• Grade 12 is essential.
  
  
• A 3-year Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent qualification is preferable.
  
  
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in private cloud architecture, virtualisation, and containerisation.
  
  
• Experience with cloud-native technologies, DevOps practices, and infrastructure automation.
  
  

What you will do

• Define and implement strategic guidance for setting up and managing virtualised computing resources.
  
  
• Architect and guide the development and deployment of application platforms within the private cloud.
  
  
• Lead the design and implementation of container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes), ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
  
  
• Design, implement, and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance, including cloud-based database services (DBaaS).
  
  
• Develop and enhance automation frameworks using tools such as Ansible and Terraform to support infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
  
  
• Establish and enforce standards, policies, and governance models for private cloud platforms, incorporating security, compliance, and operational best practices.
  
  
• Collaborate with development, operations, security, and business units to align platform strategies with organisational objectives.
