<p><b>Description :</b><br/><br/>Job Role : DBA.<br/><br/>Years of experience : 6-8.<br/><br/>Location : Bangalore.<br/><br/>Hybrid Mode : (Work from office).<br/><br/>Shift : Rotational (sometimes).<br/><br/>Position Overview :<br/><br/>We are seeking a Database & Data Infrastructure Engineer to manage and maintain our data layer technologies running on EC2 instances.<br/><br/>This role focuses on PostgreSQL database management, data streaming, message queuing, and connection pooling solutions.<br/><br/>The ideal candidate should be prepared to transition these services to AWS managed offerings (RDS, MSK, SQS, etc.) as our infrastructure evolves.<br/><br/><b>Key Responsibilities :</b><br/><br/><b>Database Management :</b><br/><br/>- Manage PostgreSQL databases running on EC2 instances.<br/><br/></p><p>- Handle database backups, recovery, and performance optimization.<br/><br/></p><p>- Troubleshoot replication issues and cluster connectivity problems.<br/><br/></p><p>- Monitor database health and implement alerting solutions.<br/><br/></p><p>- Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades.<br/><br/><b>Data Layer Technologies (EC2-based) :</b><br/><br/>- PGBouncer: Configure and maintain connection pooling for PostgreSQL.<br/><br/></p><p>- RabbitMQ: Setup and manage message queuing systems.<br/></p><p><br/>- Apache Kafka: Implement data streaming and event processing.<br/><br/></p><p>- Redis: Manage caching layers and session storage.</p><p><br/></p><p>- TimescaleDB: Handle time-series data and extensions.<br/><br/><b>AWS Managed Services Transition :</b><br/><br/>- Plan migration from self-managed to AWS managed services (RDS, MSK, SQS).<br/><br/></p><p>- Evaluate and recommend appropriate AWS services for current workloads.<br/><br/></p><p>- Design migration strategies with minimal downtime.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ensure compatibility and performance during service transitions.<br/><br/></p><p>- Document migration processes and best practices.<br/><br/><b>Monitoring & Maintenance :</b><br/><br/>- Set up monitoring for all data layer components.<br/><br/></p><p>- Create alerts for system health and performance issues.<br/></p><p><br/>- Perform regular maintenance and updates.<br/><br/></p><p>- Troubleshoot connectivity and performance problems.<br/><br/></p><p>- Maintain documentation and runbooks.<br/><br/><b>Required Technical Skills :</b><br/><br/><b>Database Technologies :</b><br/><br/>- PostgreSQL: 3+ years production experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.<br/></p><p><br/>- Database Administration: Backup/recovery, performance tuning, user management.<br/></p><p><br/>- Replication: Understanding of master-slave setups and troubleshooting connectivity issues.<br/><br/><b>Data Layer Technologies :</b><br/><br/>- PGBouncer: Connection pooling setup and configuration.<br/><br/></p><p>- RabbitMQ: Message queue installation and basic clustering.<br/><br/></p><p>- Apache Kafka: Topic management and basic stream processing.<br/><br/></p><p>- Redis: Caching implementation and configuration.<br/><br/>- Linux Administration: EC2 instance management and system administration.<br/><br/><b>AWS Services (Migration Ready) :</b><br/><br/>- Basic AWS Understanding: EC2, VPC, Security Groups, IAM.<br/><br/></p><p>- Managed Services Awareness: RDS, Amazon MSK, SQS, ElastiCache.<br/><br/></p><p>- Migration Mindset: Willingness to learn and transition to managed services.<br/><br/><b>Tools & Scripting :</b><br/><br/>- Scripting: Bash, Python (basic automation).<br/><br/></p><p>- Monitoring: Basic monitoring setup (CloudWatch, system metrics).<br/><br/></p><p>- Version Control: Git for configuration management.<br/><br/><b>Required Experience :</b><br/><br/>- 3+ years of PostgreSQL database administration.<br/><br/></p><p>- 2+ years of Linux system administration.<br/><br/></p><p>- 1+ years of experience with data layer technologies (PGBouncer, Redis, message queues).<br/><br/></p><p>- Experience with EC2 instance management and troubleshooting.<br/><br/></p><p>- Basic understanding of AWS services and cloud concepts.<br/><br/><b>Key Competencies :</b><br/><br/>- Troubleshooting database connectivity and replication issues.<br/><br/></p><p>- Setting up and configuring data layer services on Linux.<br/><br/></p><p>- Performance monitoring and basic optimization.<br/><br/></p><p>- Documentation and knowledge sharing.<br/><br/></p><p>- Adaptability to learn new AWS managed services.<br/><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
