<p><p><b>Location :</b> Mumbai<br/><br/><b>Experience :</b> 6 - 9 Years<br/><br/><b>Notice Period :</b> Immediate to 15 Days<br/><b><br/></b></p><p><p><b>About the Role :</b></p><br/>As a Senior Big Data DBA at NCG (NetConnect Global), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the performance, stability, and scalability of mission-critical database systems.
You will support large-scale Postgres and Greenplum environments, drive automation initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data infrastructure.
This role provides opportunities for professional growth through exposure to cutting-edge big data technologies, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices, while also allowing you to mentor junior DBAs and influence best practices.<br/><br/><b>Key Responsibilities :</b><br/><br/>- Provide day-to-day support for distributed and mission-critical database environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.<br/><br/>- Maintain and optimize Postgres and Greenplum databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning.<br/><br/>- Support HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery), replication clusters, backup/restore strategies, and disaster recovery testing.<br/><br/>- Contribute to the automation of routine DBA tasks (using Ansible, Python, Shell, or Perl) and establish operational best practices.<br/><br/>- Partner with DevOps and SRE teams to modernize database environments through CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.<br/><br/>- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, performing root cause analysis across application, network, database, and infrastructure layers.<br/><br/>- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, cloud, analytics) to implement scalable data solutions.<br/><br/>- Provide guidance and training to L1/L2 database support teams globally.<br/><br/>- Participate in on-call rotation for weekend and after-hours production support as required.<br/><br/><b>Required Skills & Qualifications : </b><br/><br/>- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Masters preferred).<br/><br/>- 69 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on big data technologies.<br/><br/>Proven expertise with :<br/><br/>- Greenplum Database (v5, v6, or higher)<br/><br/>- Postgres (v12 or higher)<br/><br/>- Proficiency in database administration (installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting).<br/><br/>- Strong experience in performance tuning, replication, and high availability in Postgres/Greenplum environments.<br/><br/>- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake preferred).<br/><br/>- Strong scripting skills in Unix/Linux environments (Ansible, Shell, Perl, or Python).<br/><br/>- Solid understanding of backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.<br/><br/>- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with technical and non-technical teams.<br/><br/><b>Why Join NCG ?</b><br/><br/>Since 1997, NCG (NetConnect Global) has been helping enterprises reimagine business models and operations through digital transformation, engineering, and professional services.
