<p><p><b>The Role : </b><br/><br/>As part of our exciting growth journey, were expanding our Software Engineering team and are on the lookout for a talented Drupal Developer who can join ongoing Drupal projects, support them, and also contribute to their continued development.<br/><br/>This is a rare chance to work on high-impact digital products for some of the biggest and most iconic sports brands in the world.
Youll be at the forefront of building modern, scalable platforms that help shape the future of fan engagement across global sport.<br/><br/>Were looking for someone with deep Drupal expertise, strong backend/middleware experience, and the ability to work confidently in structured support environments with SLAs, monitoring and ongoing maintenance.<br/><br/><b>Key Responsibilities : </b><br/><br/>- Take ownership of Drupal site building : content types, taxonomies, views, blocks, theming, configuration management, and upgrades.<br/><br/>- Develop custom modules/components, ensuring code is clean, maintainable, and scalable.<br/><br/>- Provide support for live Drupal projects, handling SLAs, troubleshooting issues, and applying security best practices.<br/><br/>- Build backend services and middleware with PHP (Composer workflows, Laravel/Lumen) and integrate external APIs/services.<br/><br/>- Optimise performance with database tuning, caching strategies, and CDN integration.<br/><br/>- Contribute to frontend development with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and React, ensuring accessibility (WCAG compliance).<br/><br/>- Design, implement and manage structured DevOps environments using CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), containerisation, and cloud hosting platforms (AWS and Azure), ensuring secure, scalable and resilient deployments.<br/><br/>- Monitor and maintain applications using Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure App Insights and similar tooling.<br/><br/>- Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers and other developers to scope, design and deliver projects.<br/><br/>- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.<br/><br/><b>Requirements : </b><br/><br/>- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on Drupal development.<br/><br/>- Deep knowledge of Drupal core and contributed modules, theming, and configuration management.<br/><br/>- Strong PHP skills with Composer, plus experience with frameworks such as Laravel or Lumen.<br/><br/>- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML), and external service integrations.<br/><br/>- Familiarity with database systems (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching/performance optimisation.<br/><br/>- Extensive experience with cloud operations in AWS and/or Azure, including hosting, scaling, monitoring and logging (CloudWatch, New Relic), with a strong focus on security, reliability and performance optimisation.<br/><br/>- Proficiency with frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, React) and accessibility standards.<br/><br/>- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, security scanning, and Git-based workflows.<br/><br/>- Support experience in structured environments (SLAs, Jira, troubleshooting in live environments).<br/><br/>- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.<br/><br/><b>Soft Skills : </b><br/><br/>- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.<br/><br/>- Proactive problem-solving approach, balancing pragmatism with innovation.<br/><br/>- Adaptability in fast-paced environments and shifting project priorities.<br/><br/>- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload across multiple projects.<br/><br/>- Mentoring and knowledge-sharing with junior developers and peers.<br/><br/>- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.<br/><br/><b>Nice to Have : </b><br/><br/>- Experience with Google Tag Manager and analytics integrations.<br/><br/>- Elasticsearch or similar search engine implementation.<br/><br/>- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent.<br/><br/>- A keen interest in sport and the sports business.</p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
