<p><p><b>Job Summary :</b><br/><br/></p><p>We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Linux System and Networking Administrator with strong experience in virtualization (especially Proxmox and VMware vCenter) and a deep understanding of enterprise networking.<br/><br/></p><p>You will be responsible for maintaining our Linux systems, managing virtualized environments, and ensuring robust and secure network operations across the organization.<br/><br/><b>Key Responsibilities :</b><br/><br/><b>Linux System Administration :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) in physical and virtual environments.<br/><br/></p><p>- Manage web, database, file, and directory services, including Apache/Nginx, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Samba, and LDAP.<br/><br/></p><p>- Develop and maintain system automation scripts using Bash, Ansible, or similar tools.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ensure system uptime, performance, and reliability through proactive monitoring and maintenance.<br/><br/><b>Virtualization & Infrastructure Management :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Administer and maintain Proxmox VE and VMware vCenter/ESXi virtual environments.<br/><br/></p><p>- Provision, clone, snapshot, and manage virtual machines and containers.<br/><br/></p><p>- Monitor and optimize virtual resource utilization (CPU, memory, storage).<br/><br/></p><p>- Assist in planning and implementing scalable, redundant virtualization infrastructure.<br/><br/><b>Network Administration :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Design, configure, and manage LAN/WAN environments, including VLANs, routing, trunking, and link aggregation.<br/><br/></p><p>- Administer and maintain firewalls (e.g., pfSense, iptables, FortiGate), VPNs, and secure remote access solutions (OpenVPN, WireGuard).<br/><br/></p><p>- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues using tools like tcpdump, Wireshark, and NetFlow.<br/><br/></p><p>- Maintain DNS, DHCP, NAT, and port forwarding rules in both physical and virtualized networks.<br/><br/><p><b>Security and Compliance :</b></p><p><br/></p>- Harden Linux systems and network infrastructure based on best practices.<br/><br/></p><p>- Conduct periodic audits, patching, and updates for operating systems, hypervisors, and firewalls.<br/><br/></p><p>- Implement and maintain intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and network access </p><p>control.<br/><br/><p><b>Support & Documentation :</b></p><p><br/></p>- Provide tier 2/3 support for Linux, network, and virtualization-related issues.<br/><br/></p><p>- Document infrastructure, network diagrams, system configurations, and SOPs.<br/><br/></p><p>- Work closely with IT security, DevOps, and cloud teams to ensure a consistent and secure :</b><br/><br/><b>Experience :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- 35+ years of experience in Linux system administration and networking.<br/><br/></p><p>- 3+ years experience managing Proxmox or VMware vCenter environments.<br/><br/><b>Technical Skills :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Proficient in Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).<br/><br/></p><p>- Hands-on experience with Proxmox VE, vSphere, and VMware vCenter.<br/><br/></p><p>- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols, and NAT.<br/><br/></p><p>- Experience configuring and managing firewalls and VPNs.<br/><br/></p><p>- Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Ansible, or Python).<br/><br/></p><p>- Familiar with monitoring/logging tools: Zabbix, Grafana, ELK, or similar.<br/><br/><b>Preferred Qualifications :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Certifications: RHCE, VCP, CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.<br/><br/></p><p>- Experience with SDN, high availability setups, and network segmentation.<br/><br/></p><p>- Familiarity with hybrid cloud infrastructure or on-premises to cloud migrations.<br/><br/><b>Soft Skills :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ability to work independently and under pressure.<br/><br/></p><p>- Good communication and documentation abilities.<br/><br/></p><p>- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.</p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
