Job title: Flexera Consultant/Developer

Job Location: Hyderabad/Bangalore

Work Mode: Hybrid

Must be comfortable to work in the rotational shifts.

A Flexera tool consultant / developer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support in the implementation, configuration, and potential customization of Flexera software solutions.

Their job involves collaborating with clients to understand their business requirements and translating them into functional specifications for the Flexera tool.

As a consultant, they will advise clients on the best practices and strategies for utilizing the Flexera tool to optimize their software asset management, software license optimization, and IT asset management processes.

They will also guide clients in designing and implementing workflows and automation processes using the Flexera tool.

Additionally, a Flexera tool consultant / developer will be involved in developing configurations, extensions, and integrations to meet specific client needs.

This includes writing scripts, creating reports, and designing dashboards within the Flexera tool.

Key responsibilities of a Flexera tool consultant / developer may include:

Platform Administration & Governance

• User Access & Role Management: Define, administer, and periodically review user roles, permissions, and access policies within the Flexera platform.
• Platform Upgrades & Patch Management: Plan, test, and execute version upgrades, patches, and hotfixes to ensure stability and security.
• System Health Monitoring: Establish monitoring and alerting for Flexera platform performance, data ingestion, and integration workflows.
• Audit & Compliance Reporting: Proactively prepare audit-ready reports and evidence for internal/external compliance reviews.

Data Management & Quality Assurance

• Data Normalization & Cleansing: Ensure software inventory and entitlement data is accurate, deduplicated, and aligned with procurement sources.
• Ongoing License Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations between discovered usage and purchased entitlements.
• Master Data Governance: Align Flexera data structures with CMDBs (ServiceNow, SCCM, etc.) to maintain authoritative asset records.

Advanced Technical Integrations

• Automation Pipelines: Develop automation scripts (e.G., PowerShell, Python) to reduce manual intervention in data ingestion, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Cloud & SaaS Optimization: Expand integration with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS vendors for subscription optimization.
• CMDB & ITSM Alignment: Continuously maintain integrations with ServiceNow, Intune, JAMF, and other enterprise IT management tools.

Strategic & Advisory Responsibilities

• Software Lifecycle Planning: Advise clients on end-of-life software, vendor renewals, and consolidation opportunities.
• Cost Optimization & Forecasting: Proactively identify opportunities for license harvesting, subscription right-sizing, and contract renegotiations.
• Vendor Management Support: Partner with procurement teams to validate vendor invoices against entitlements and usage data.
• Roadmap Development: Define a Flexera platform roadmap for scalability, automation, and advanced analytics adoption.

Enablement & Thought Leadership

• Internal Training Programs: Build repeatable training materials for IT and business stakeholders on interpreting Flexera data and dashboards.
• Documentation & Knowledge Base: Maintain comprehensive technical and functional documentation (playbooks, runbooks, SOPs).
• Community & Product Feedback: Engage with Flexera communities and provide feedback on platform improvements, feature requests, and best practices.

Security & Risk Management

• Access Security Audits: Regularly review and enforce least-privilege access policies.
• License Compliance Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify risks of under-licensing and implement remediation strategies before vendor audits.
• Data Privacy Considerations: Ensure Flexera-managed data complies with GDPR, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.

Skills & Competencies

Demonstrates intimate-level abilities and/or a proven record of success with:

• Flexera Platform: In-depth knowledge of the Flexera suite of tools, including FlexNet Manager Suite, FlexNet Manager for Cloud Infrastructure, and FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.
  
  
• Software model creation and hierarchy structure
• Software management process step configuration
• Approval workflows
• Process step orchestration
• Flexera platform-native reporting, notification and dashboard configuration to client requirements

• Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python is essential.
  
  These languages are commonly used for developing Flexera tools.
• Configuration Management: Familiarity with configuration management concepts and tools, such as Flexera AdminStudio or Flexera InstallShield, which are commonly used for managing software deployments
• Web Services and APIs: Knowledge of web services and APIs (REST, SOAP) is important for integrating ServiceNow with other systems and applications.
• Discovery Tools (ServiceNow Discovery, Logic7, Flexera)
• Configuration and Resource Manager Applications (SCCM/MECM, JAMF, InTune)
• Network Device Managers (ScienceLogic, Nagios, SolarWinds)
• Other (Datadog, Qualys)

• Database Management: Proficiency in working with databases, particularly SQL-based databases, as Flexera tools often require interacting with databases for storing and retrieving information
• ITIL: Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) processes and frameworks is beneficial, as ServiceNow is often utilized for IT service management (ITSM) and IT operations management (ITOM).
• Troubleshooting and Debugging: Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging techniques to identify and resolve issues in ServiceNow configurations, workflows, and scripts.
• Version Control: Experience with version control systems like Git to manage and track changes in ServiceNow development.
• Agile Methodology: Understanding of Agile development methodologies and practices, as ServiceNow development often involves working in Agile teams and following iterative development processes.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for effectively working with cross-functional teams, gathering requirements, and collaborating on ServiceNow projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  
  
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Certification Preferred:

• ITIL 4 & CSAM Certification (IAITAM)
• Flexera Certification(s)
