<p><p><b>Description : </b><br/><br/><b>Role Overview : </b><br/><br/>Freecharge is looking for a Principal QA Engineer who can lead both manual and automation testing initiatives across multiple projects and product lines.

The candidate will define and execute a comprehensive QA strategy, ensuring quality throughout all stages of development from requirement analysis to production validation.

They will also design and implement automation solutions using Node.js, Java or JavaScript with tools such as Selenium, WebdriverIO, and Appium, ensuring robust end-to-end product quality.<br/><br/>This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with approximately 60% focus on manual testing (strategy, planning, validation) and 40% on automation (framework design, scripting, CI/CD integration).<br/><br/><b>Who we Are?

Our focus is to create an ecosystem of innovative products and features which enable seamless transactions, without the need for cash.<br/><br/>Do you make the Cut?<br/><br/><b>Role Title : </b> Principal QA Engineer<br/><br/><b>Location : </b> Mumbai (WFH)<br/><br/><b>Experience : </b> 9 - 15 Years.<br/><br/><b>Employee Type : </b> Permanent (DBAT)<br/><br/><b>Educational Qualification : </b> Bachelor / Masters degree in CS/IT<br/><br/><b>Core Responsibilities : </b><br/><br/><b>Manual QA Responsibilities (60%) :</b></p><p><p><b><br/></b></p>- Define QA strategy, scope, and processes for multiple projects.<br/><br/></p><p>- Create detailed test plans, test cases, test data sheets, and test reports aligned with business and technical requirements.<br/><br/></p><p>- Perform comprehensive functional, regression, system, and UAT testing for web, mobile web, and mobile apps (Android/iOS).<br/><br/></p><p>- Conduct API testing using tools like Postman, Charles, or Rest Assured.<br/><br/></p><p>- Execute database testing (SQL/NoSQL) and security testing for end-to-end coverage.<br/><br/></p><p>- Validate browser and device compatibility, ensuring a consistent user experience.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ensure compliance with QA processes (acceptance criteria, STLC, defect management, and RCA).<br/><br/></p><p>- Collaborate with cross-functional teamsbusiness analysts, developers, and product ownersto ensure quality delivery.<br/><br/></p><p>- Lead defect triage, track resolutions, and verify production issues.<br/><br/></p><p>- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive preventive actions.<br/><br/></p><p>- Mentor team members and promote QA best practices.<br/><br/><b>Automation QA Responsibilities (40%) :</b></p><p><p><b><br/></b></p>- Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Selenium, WebdriverIO, Appium, and Java/JavaScript.<br/><br/></p><p>- Automate smoke, regression, and sanity test suites for web and mobile applications.<br/><br/></p><p>- Integrate automation scripts within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, Git).<br/><br/></p><p>- Implement BDD frameworks (Cucumber) for behavior-driven testing.<br/><br/></p><p>- Collaborate with development teams to identify automation scope and improve test coverage.<br/><br/></p><p>- Optimize scripts for performance, reusability, and maintainability.<br/><br/></p><p>- Conduct API automation (Postman/Newman/Rest Assured).<br/><br/></p><p>- Provide technical guidance to QA teams on automation techniques and best practices.<br/><br/><b>Must-Have Skills : </b><br/><br/></p><p>- Strong understanding of STLC, SDLC, Agile methodologies, and QA processes.<br/><br/></p><p>- Proven experience in API , web, mobile, database and security testing.<br/><br/></p><p>- Good knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and Unix/Linux systems.<br/><br/></p><p>- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.<br/><br/></p><p>- Exposure to security and performance testing (using JMeter or LoadRunner).<br/><br/></p><p>- Expertise in defect management using JIRA or similar tools.<br/><br/></p><p>- Strong understanding of browser/device compatibility and responsive design validation.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and lead QA initiatives.<br/><br/></p><p>- Prior experience in Banking, Finance, or Fintech domains is highly preferred.<br/><br/><b>Automation Skills : </b><br/><br/></p><p>- Hands-on experience with Selenium, WebdriverIO, Appium using Java/JavaScript.<br/><br/></p><p>- Experience in BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.<br/><br/></p><p>- Good grasp of OOPs concepts, data structures, and algorithms.<br/><br/></p><p>- Knowledge of reporting tools like Allure or Cucumber Reports.<br/><br/></p><p>- Experience with CI/CD tools Jenkins, Git, Maven.<br/><br/></p><p>- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in automation frameworks.<br/><br/><b>Good-to-Have : </b><br/><br/></p><p>- Experience with API automation (Postman/Newman/Rest Assured).<br/><br/></p><p>- Awareness of accessibility and compliance testing in banking environments.<br/><br/></p><p>- Knowledge of cloud-based testing platforms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).<br/><br/></p><p>- Prior experience mentoring QA engineers and reviewing automation code.<br/><br/><b>Soft Skills : </b><br/><br/></p><p>- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.<br/><br/></p><p>- Strong leadership with the ability to influence QA best practices.<br/><br/></p><p>- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.<br/><br/></p><p>- Self-driven and adaptable in fast-paced environments.<br/><br/></p><p>- Proven ability to deliver quality outcomes under tight deadlines.</p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
