**The Role**

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services.

You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike.

You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance.

You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**

**5 Years of Experience in IBM i High Availability (HA) Admin with demonstrating proficiency in the following areas**

​ **1.

Proficient Understanding of IBM i Architecture**

Extensive expertise in the IBM i operating system, including object-based storage and integrated DB2 for i database.

Strong grasp of partitioning (LPAR), IBM Power Systems, and Hardware Management Console (HMC).

**2.

High Availability Concepts**

In-depth knowledge of Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO).

Experience with active/passive and active/active HA configurations.

Skilled in data replication, journaling, and mirroring methodologies.

**3.

IBM i HA Tools & Technologies**

**PowerHA for IBM i:** Native HA solution

IASP (Independent ASP) management

Cluster configuration and monitoring

Role swap execution and failover testing

**IBM i Geographic Mirroring (GeoMirror):** Real-time data replication across environments

Synchronous/asynchronous mirroring configuration

Monitoring and administration of mirrored systems

**MIMIX / iTERA (Precisely, formerly Vision Solutions):** Leading third-party HA/DR software

Replication setup and performance monitoring

Manual and automated role swaps

Conflict resolution and log analysis

Customization of replication filters and rules

**Quick-EDD/HA:** HA/replication tool including installation, monitoring, role swaps, and troubleshooting

**4.

Disaster Recovery (DR) Planning**

Development and validation of HA/DR procedures

Documentation and automation of failover/failback processes

Execution of scheduled disaster recovery drills

**5.

Performance and Monitoring Tools**

Proficient use of IBM Navigator for i and System i Navigator

Routine application of commands such as WRKDSKSTS, WRKACTJOB, and WRKSYSSTS for system health assessment

Monitoring the impact of journaling on system performance

**6.

Networking & Storage Expertise**

Configuration of TCP/IP networks

Experience with SAN/NAS storage, particularly within PowerHA IASP environments

Assessment of switches and bandwidth for effective replication

Implementation of IBM i network interface failover (LIND failover)

**7.

Security & User Management in HA Environments**

Ensuring secure replication through encryption and audit logging

Synchronization of user profiles and authorities between systems

**8.

Scripting and Automation**

Advanced skills in CL (Control Language) scripting

Automation of role swaps and failover operations

Utilization of BRMS (Backup Recovery Media Services) for automated backup processes
