NAME:- Instructional Designer
JOBTITLE/ POSISTION:- Instructional Designer
REPORTING TO:- Technical Manager
REGION/ FUNCTION:- Technical
ORGANISATION ENTITY:- Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE)
LOCATION:- Bangalore

JOB PURPOSE:
The Instructional Design / Technical Assistant supports the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality digital learning materials for CDOE programs in accordance with UGC (DEB) regulations and institutional quality assurance standards.

The role involves collaborating with subject experts, multimedia developers, and the Learning Management System (LMS) team to ensure effective delivery of learner-centric online and distance education content.

WORK RELATIONS:
Internal Interface

– Director, Programme Coordinators, Course Coordinators, Course Mentors, Admission office and Examination team
External Interface

– Students, Content Authors, Industry Experts and Subject Matter Experts.

CRITICAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Instructional Design & Content Development
Assist in designing and structuring Self-Learning Materials (SLMs) aligned with UGC-DEB’s four-quadrant model (e-content, video lectures, web resources, and assessment).
Support Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in transforming traditional course materials into interactive and engaging digital learning content.
Ensure all course designs follow principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Bloom’s Taxonomy, and accessibility standards.
Maintain uniformity in course templates, instructional tone, and visual identity across programs.
Edit and format course materials (text, audio, and video) for clarity, consistency, and instructional effectiveness.
Upload, organize, and manage course materials on the Learning Management System (LMS) in compliance with DEB requirements.
Support faculty and learners in using the LMS and associated digital tools effectively.
Ensure courses meet UGC-DEB quality benchmarks for online and distance learning delivery.

Quality Assurance & Reporting
Maintain records of instructional design processes, version control, and content review logs.
Support periodic content audits as per UGC-DEB Annual Compliance and Quality Review guidelines.
Assist in preparing documentation and evidence for DEB recognition, NAAC, and internal academic audits.

Key Deliverables
Digitally formatted and DEB-compliant course modules uploaded to the LMS.
Functional learning support structure with multimedia integration.
Documentation for quality assurance and UGC-DEB compliance audits.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 2 years of relevant experience in instructional design, e-learning, or educational technology.
Strong computer literacy, including MS Office, LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas), and basic multimedia tools.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Strong understanding of pedagogy and learning principles.
Proficiency in digital content authoring tools
Attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work collaboratively with faculty teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines.
