<p><p><b>Role L Software Engineer III (iSeries Engineering)</b><br/><br/>Location : Staples India Business Innovation Hub, Chennai.<br/><br/><b>About the Role : </b><br/><br/>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RPG Developer to join our Order Management Systems (OMS) team.<br/><br/>This role is ideal for a technical expert passionate about building and maintaining high-performance applications using RPG on IBM i (AS/400, iSeries) systems.<br/><br/>You will play a critical role in designing, enhancing, and maintaining Order Management solutions that support business-critical operations across multiple domains with primary focus on B2B Order Creation and Management.<br/><br/><b>Responsibilities : </b><br/><br/>- Design, develop, test, and maintain RPG-based applications on IBM i platforms.<br/><br/>- Lead enhancements and bug-fixes in Order Management Systems (OMS), with deep understanding of customer account management, order entry, order fulfillment, billing, and returns modules.<br/><br/>- Translate business requirements into high-quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable code.<br/><br/>- Work collaboratively with Product Owners, QA, and multiple application and infrastructure teams located in USA and India to deliver end-to-end OMS solutions.<br/><br/>- Conduct root cause analysis and performance tuning of the applications.<br/><br/>- Modernize legacy RPG code (e.g., RPG III to RPG IV/ILE/Free Format) where necessary.<br/><br/>- Create and maintain technical documentation, including code reviews and release notes.<br/><br/>- Comply with Change Management, PCI, PII, SOX policies and best practices.<br/><br/>- Provide technical mentorship to junior developers.<br/><br/><b>Required Skills & Qualifications : </b><br/><br/>- 8+ years of experience in RPG development, including RPG IV, RPG ILE, and Free Format RPG.<br/><br/>- Strong hands-on experience with IBM i (AS/400, iSeries) platforms.<br/><br/>- Deep understanding of Order Management business processes.<br/><br/>- Proficiency in CL, DDS, DB2/400, and service programs/modules.<br/><br/>- Solid experience with EDI, APIs, and integrations between RPG-based and external systems.<br/><br/>- Proven track record in performance tuning and troubleshooting RPG applications.<br/><br/>- Ability to work independently and drive development in a fast-paced environment.<br/><br/>- Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.<br/><br/><b>Preferred (Nice to Have) : </b><br/><br/>- Experience with modernization tools like Visual Studio Code, RDi, Implementer, SQL, APIs, web services on IBM i, and AI.<br/><br/>- JAVA, Sterling OMS, Cloud (Azure, GCP), Microservices, EDA, DevOPS, CICD, ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Snowflake, Power BI, Copilot, Python.<br/><br/>- Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)/Scrum/Kanban frameworks.<br/><br/>- Exposure to e-Commerce, Retail, Logistics domains.</p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
