The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Lead / Manager to own the end-to-end freelancer journey.
You’ll architect backend-heavy services, integrate AI-driven workflows, and mentor engineers — while bringing UI/UX understanding to product and stakeholder conversations.
From onboarding → assessments → notifications → project deployment → payments, you’ll shape how freelancers experience our platform.
Responsibilities
- Freelancer Journey: Own services for onboarding, assessments, notifications, courses, playgrounds, deployments, and payments.
- AI/ML Features: Build semantic search for talent discovery.
- Develop AI-driven interviews and assessments.
- Integrate fraud detection (ML pipelines, browser extensions).
- Deploy AI agents and workflow automation.
- Backend & Scale: Architect backend services in Java/Golang/Python with caching, queues, and APIs.
- Databases: Design and optimize Postgres/MySQL (relational) and MongoDB/DynamoDB (NoSQL); use VectorDBs for semantic search.
- Cloud & Infra: Deploy on AWS/GCP with Kubernetes, infra-as-code, CI/CD.
- Monitoring & Reliability: Build observability into all systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
- Leadership: Mentor engineers, run 1:1s, drive planning/execution, and uphold engineering quality.
- Product Alignment: Apply UI/UX understanding to align product decisions with stakeholder and freelancer needs.
Requirements
- 8+ years in software engineering, with 2–3+ years in leadership roles.
- Backend expertise in Java/Golang/Python, distributed systems, caching, queues.
- Database experience: Postgres/MySQL, MongoDB/DynamoDB, VectorDBs.
- Experience with AI-native workflows: semantic search, AI interviews, fraud detection, workflow automation.
- Cloud-native deployment experience (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, infra-as-code, CI/CD).
- Strong UI/UX awareness for stakeholder/product discussions.
- Proven track record of hands-on coding + leadership/mentorship.
- Bonus: Experience with marketplaces, payments, or workforce platforms.
