<p><p><b>We Core Solutions are hiring for the role of Lead DBA to join our Team.</b><br/><br/><b>Role</b> Lead DBA (MSSQL DBA with AWS RDS).<br/><br/><b>Experience</b> 12 - 14 years.<br/><br/><b>Location</b> Chennai.<br/><br/><b>Work Mode</b> Work from Office (Flexible Working hours).<br/><br/><b>Notice Period</b> Immediate to 45 Days.<br/><br/><b>Position Summary :</b><br/><br/>We are seeking a Lead DBA to be part of the Infrastructure and Operations team through our journey of transformation as we transition to a SaaS-first organization.

This role will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of database systems in the cloud (AWS RDS, Aurora, etc.

This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring databases are secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-efficient while guiding a team of DBAs.<br/><br/><b>Role and Responsibilities :</b><br/><br/><b>Database Administration & Leadership :</b></p><p><br/>- Lead and mentor a team of DBAs/engineers, providing technical direction and best practices.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Oversee installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of SQL Server and AWS-managed databases.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Ensure database systems meet business performance, security, and availability requirements.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Act as the escalation point for complex database performance and reliability issues.<br/><br/><b>Database Design & Architecture :</b></p><p><br/>- Design and implement database solutions for high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR).<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Lead data modeling and schema design to support application requirements.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Architect hybrid environments integrating on-prem SQL Server with AWS RDS/Aurora.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Optimize database storage, partitioning, and indexing strategies.<br/><br/><b>Performance Tuning & Optimization :</b></p><p><br/>- Conduct performance analysis, query tuning, and optimization of SQL workloads.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in database systems.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Establish database monitoring solutions (CloudWatch, Performance Monitor, third-party tools).<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Drive automation for routine DBA tasks (backups, health checks, indexing).<br/><br/><b>Cloud Database Management (AWS) :</b></p><p><br/>- Manage AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, and other cloud-native database services.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Implement automated backup, replication, and failover strategies in AWS.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Monitor and optimize AWS costs for database workloads.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Ensure secure integration between applications and AWS-managed databases.<br/><br/><b>Security & Compliance :</b></p><p><br/>- Enforce database security best practices, encryption, and access controls.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Manage identity and access policies (IAM) for AWS databases.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Conduct audits and vulnerability assessments on database environments.<br/><br/><b>Backup, Recovery & DR Strategy :</b></p><p><br/>- Define and implement backup and recovery strategies across SQL and AWS databases.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Perform regular DR drills and ensure RPO/RTO objectives are met.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Maintain replication and clustering for mission-critical systems.<br/><br/><b>Stakeholder & Project Management :</b></p><p><br/>- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and architects to support application and analytics workloads.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Work with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and SLAs.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Provide database-related input for cloud migration, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>- Prepare documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer for DB teams.<br/><br/><b>What we are looking for :</b><br/><br/>- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.<br/><br/>- 12-14 years of experience working in SQL Server administration including performance tuning, replication, clustering, Always ON).<br/><br/>- 4-5 years of experience working in AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, Redshift).<br/><br/>- Experience in DB migrations, upgrades to the cloud and on the cloud.<br/><br/>- Strong knowledge of backup/recovery strategies, HA/DR design, and monitoring tools.<br/><br/>- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.<br/><br/>- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.<br/><br/>- Should be able to lead from the front while directing the team and taking direction from the leadership as necessary.<br/><br/>- Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL4, ISO 20000) and understanding of security standards (ISO 27001, NIST, SOC2).<br/><br/><b>Nice to have :</b><br/><br/>- AWS certification(s).<br/><br/>- Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD for databases (e.g., Liquibase, Flyway).<br/><br/>- Knowledge of scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or SQL scripts).<br/><br/>- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.<br/><br/>- Highly motivated and results oriented.<br/><br/><b>About us Core Solutions Inc.
