<p>About the Role : </p><p><br/></p><p>As a Staff Engineer - Backend, you will play a key role in defining and driving the technical direction of our backend systems.<br/><br/> You'll architect scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions to solve complex business problems while mentoring engineers across teams.<br/><br/> You'll collaborate cross-functionally to align technology initiatives with business goals and ensure engineering excellence across the organization.<br/><br/>Key Responsibilities :</p><p><br/></p><p>Technical Execution : </p><p><br/></p><p>- Act as a subject matter expert in one or more backend technologies, providing technical guidance and mentorship across teams.<br/><br/>- Define, architect, and implement robust, maintainable backend systems for large-scale web applications.<br/><br/>- Manage and forecast project timelines, risks, and dependencies to ensure smooth delivery.<br/><br/>- Drive best practices for software design, testing, deployment, and documentation.<br/><br/>- Conduct high-level design and code reviews to uphold engineering quality and scalability standards.<br/><br/>- Evaluate and introduce new technologies or frameworks to improve backend efficiency and reliability.<br/><br/>Collaboration & Leadership : </p><p><br/></p><p>- Lead cross-functional and cross-team collaboration to solve ambiguous and complex engineering challenges.<br/><br/>- Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, fostering growth and leadership within the team.<br/><br/>- Influence and contribute to technical strategy and long-term architectural decisions.<br/><br/>- Participate in and help shape the engineering hiring process, ensuring alignment with company standards.<br/><br/>- Build strong relationships with non-adjacent teams to align efforts and achieve strategic objectives.<br/><br/>Preferred Skills & Experience :</p><p><br/></p><p>- 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with demonstrated expertise in designing distributed systems or large-scale web architectures.<br/><br/>- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Node.js, Scala, or Java.</p><p><br/>- Deep understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience designing efficient data models.<br/><br/>- Hands-on experience with NoSQL technologies (Redis, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, Memcached).<br/><br/>- Strong knowledge of scalable web architecture, microservices, and API design.<br/><br/>- Excellent debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills.<br/><br/>- Proven ability to balance hands-on technical work with long-term architectural thinking.<br/><br/>- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset<br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
