<p><p><b>Job Description :</b></p><p><br/></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities :</b><br/><br/>- Engage with customers to understand requirements, pain points, and use cases, ensuring user-centric solutions.<br/><br/>- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, IMS, and JCL.<br/><br/>- Create high-level software architecture designs, ensuring scalability, performance, and integration with enterprise systems.<br/><br/>- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, architects, and designers to deliver solutions.<br/><br/>- Define and implement testing strategies, ensuring software quality, reliability, and compliance.<br/><br/>- Develop and maintain back-end components such as APIs, batch jobs, and transaction processing systems.<br/><br/>- Optimize application performance and introduce new technologies/methodologies to improve efficiency.<br/><br/>- Ensure robust security practices, including data encryption, anonymization, and compliance with regulatory standards.<br/><br/>- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.<br/><br/>- Stay updated with emerging mainframe technologies and industry trends to recommend continuous improvements.<br/><br/><b>Education & Qualifications :</b><br/><br/>- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.<br/><br/>- Advanced certifications in Mainframe Technologies (preferred).<br/><br/><b>Experience :</b><br/><br/>- 6+ years of IT experience, with 4+ years in mainframe development.<br/><br/>- Practical expertise in two programming languages or advanced proficiency in at least one (COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS).<br/><br/><b>Technical Skills :</b><br/><br/><b>Mandatory :</b><br/><br/>- COBOL : Development and maintenance of batch and online applications.<br/><br/>- JCL (Job Control Language) : Job scheduling, batch processing, and automation.<br/><br/>- DB2<br/><br/>- IMS DB / IMS DC : Transaction and database management.<br/><br/>- VSAM : File handling and dataset management.<br/><br/>- Strong understanding of mainframe operating environments and systems integration.<br/><br/><b>Preferred :</b><br/><br/>- Experience with test-driven development, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.<br/><br/>- Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and modern integration techniques.<br/><br/>- Exposure to application security practices in mainframe environments<br/></p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
