Role Objective:
Lead the strategic design and governance of IBM Z infrastructure modernization, ensuring alignment with Customer hybrid cloud goals and IBM Z17 roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Strategy
- Define the modernization architecture for IBM Z systems, integrating hybrid cloud capabilities.
- Design Infrastructure as Code (IaC) blueprints using Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps.
- Align infrastructure strategy with IBM Z17 adoption and IBM Concert observability.
Tooling & Automation
- Select and govern automation tools for provisioning, configuration, and compliance.
- Oversee integration of infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
- Establish monitoring frameworks using Cloudwatch, Instana, and Watson AIOps.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure infrastructure designs meet security, performance, and regulatory standards.
- Implement environment drift detection and IaC compliance checks.
- Collaborate with other architects and data security teams for governance alignment.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with customer, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Provide technical leadership during vendor evaluation and migration planning.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years in mainframe infrastructure design and modernization.
- Deep expertise in IBM Z systems, z/OS, and zLinux containerization.
- Proven experience with Terraform, Ansible, GitOps, and hybrid cloud integration.
- Strong understanding of IBM Concert, Watson AIOps, and observability tools.
- Familiarity with GDPS, DFSMSdss, and IBM Copy Services for storage migration.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
