Job Title: MySQL Database Administrator
Experience: 5 to 8 Years
Location: Bangalore (Onsite/Hybrid as per business requirement)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) setup and management in Linux environments .
The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining MySQL databases on Linux systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and administer MySQL databases on Linux platforms (not Windows).
Design, implement, and manage HADR (High Availability and Disaster Recovery) solutions using MySQL Replication, Group Replication, or InnoDB Cluster .
Perform regular database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
Manage backup and recovery strategies using tools such as mysqldump, Percona XtraBackup, or equivalent.
Monitor and troubleshoot database issues to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
Implement and maintain security policies for database access and encryption.
Perform schema design, indexing, and query optimization for high-performance applications.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support database requirements.
Automate routine database tasks using Shell/Python scripting .
Maintain documentation of database architecture, configurations, and recovery procedures.
Participate in on-call rotation for production support and incident resolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5–8 years of hands-on experience as a MySQL Database Administrator .
Proven experience in MySQL HADR setup and management (Replication, Failover, Cluster, or Galera Cluster).
Strong experience in Linux-based MySQL installation, configuration, and troubleshooting .
Good understanding of MySQL performance tuning , query optimization, and indexing strategies.
Solid experience in backup/recovery tools (e.g., Percona XtraBackup, MySQL Enterprise Backup).
Knowledge of Linux system administration and scripting (Shell, Bash, or Python) .
Familiar with database monitoring tools (e.g., Percona Monitoring and Management, Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus).
Experience with partitioning, replication lag monitoring, and data consistency checks.
Understanding of networking, firewalls, and security principles in Linux environments.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Percona MySQL or MariaDB distributions.
Exposure to cloud-based MySQL (AWS RDS, Azure Database for MySQL, GCP Cloud SQL) .
Familiarity with containerized MySQL deployments (Docker/Kubernetes) .
Experience working in 24x7 production support environments.
Certification in MySQL DBA or Linux Administration (RHCSA/RHCE) is a plus.
Work Schedule:
Regular: 9 AM – 6 PM IST
On-call support rotation for production databases.
