**Job Description:**

We are seeking a proactive and skilled **Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst with 8 to 13 years of experience** to join our team in Pune.

This is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team.

This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of our platforms.

The successful candidate will leverage their strong technical expertise in system management, development principles, and problem-solving to optimize our applications, enhance existing functionalities, and contribute to a robust operational environment.

While focused on operational excellence, this role requires a developer mindset to implement sustainable solutions and drive continuous improvement.

**Responsibilities:**

+ **Technical Solution Development:** Identify, design, and implement innovative technical solutions to maximize application potential and address complex challenges.

This includes developing and maintaining robust technical support documentation.
+ **Application Enhancement & Optimization:** Apply advanced Oracle development skills to enhance the stability, efficiency, and effectiveness of Citi applications.

This includes implementing database optimizations, refining queries, and developing automation scripts to improve system performance and reliability.
+ **Production System Management:** Manage, maintain, and support critical production applications and their operating environments, ensuring high levels of stability, quality, and functionality in line with service level expectations.
+ **Performance Engineering & Tuning:** Conduct in-depth analysis of application bottlenecks, performance tuning, effective resource usage, and capacity planning.

Implement best practices for system stability and continuous performance improvement.
+ **Incident Management & Resolution:** Proactively assess risks, identify, and resolve production issues.

Escalate critical incidents to business and technology management, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
+ **Application Lifecycle Participation:** Actively participate in the application release lifecycle, from development, support and testing through to deployment into production.

Conduct post-implementation analysis to validate system design and functionality.
+ **Contingency Planning & Resilience:** Review and develop application contingency plans to ensure high availability and business continuity for users.
+ **Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:** Partner with production support teams to prioritize development of bug fixes and essential support tooling.

Act as a technical liaison between users, internal technology groups, and external vendors to facilitate effective communication and problem resolution.
+ **Operational Excellence & Process Definition:** Ensure adherence to essential operational procedures and contribute to defining and evolving operating standards and processes.
+ **Risk & Security Assessment:** Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
**Skills & Qualifications:**

+ **Application Development Experience:** Proven experience in an Application Development role, with a strong emphasis on developing, supporting, and optimizing large-scale applications.
+ **Oracle Database Expertise:** Hands-on experience supporting applications built in Oracle, including advanced SQL, PL/SQL development, and performance tuning within an Oracle environment.
+ **Linux Proficiency:** Solid experience working with Linux operating systems, including shell scripting (UNIX shell scripting is a significant advantage).
+ **Product Knowledge:** The ideal candidate will have strong experience in NAV Control products, such as pControl or other similar software.
+ **Problem Solving & Analytical Skills:** Very strong analytical skills with a proven track record in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues.

Experience with issue tracking and problem management tools.
+ **System Monitoring & Maintenance:** Experience with daily performance monitoring, cluster management, and implementing best practices for system stability and performance improvement.
+ **Programming Languages:** Experience with some programming languages and a willingness/ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
+ **Communication & Collaboration:** Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Proven ability to effectively share information within technical teams and with relevant stakeholders.
+ **Project Involvement:** Active involvement in and ownership of project development items, contributing to stability, efficiency, and effectiveness initiatives.
+ **Independent Judgment:** Ability to operate with limited direct supervision, exercise independence of judgment, and autonomy.
+ **Risk Management:** Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.

**Education:**

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
