This is a senior engineering role specializing in variable speed drives and power conversion systems, responsible for advanced electrical research, design, and testing of drive products and control systems, defining hardware architecture and performance requirements, leading early development phases, and applying deep expertise in power electronics, motor control, and analog/digital electronics while ensuring safety, compliance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
As a PCB Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Designing, developing, and testing variable speed drives, motor control circuits, and power electronic systemsConducting/overseeing prototype builds for compliance to specifications, efficiency, and reliabilityCreating electrical schematics and PCBAs for power stage, control boards, and gate driver circuitsDesigning Altium-based wire harnesses and cabling for drive systems, including BOM generation and routing optimizationSelecting components (IGBTs, SiC/MOSFETs, gate drivers, magnetics, sensors, protection circuits) for drive applicationsDeveloping and executing VSD performance verification test plans (efficiency, harmonic distortion, thermal, EMI/EMC)Analyzing failure modes, reliability, and drive performance improvementsDeveloping mathematical models of motor-drive systems to guide design and validationTroubleshooting and refining prototypes/final products for power density, thermal, and manufacturability targetsResolving failure issues and identifying root causes; qualify alternate components for obsolete or supply-chain constrained partsCreating and maintaining documentation: BOMs, harness drawings, ECNs/EDNs, test procedures, and design packagesProviding sustaining engineering support for existing VSD products and addressing field-return/production issuesCollaborating with Product Management and Procurement to drive cost reductions and performance improvementsEvaluating and introducing new power semiconductors, passive components, manufacturing techniques, and design toolsManaging prototype procurement, supplier quoting, ordering, and material inspectionEnsuring compliance with UL, CE, IEC 61800-5-1, and IEEE 519 standards for variable speed drivesCoordinating with external labs for compliance (safety, EMC/EMI, efficiency testing)Supporting the company’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001 and customer requirements)Training and mentoring junior engineers on PCB, harness design, and VSD development practicesFuel your passion
 
Have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in power electronics or VSD design, or a Master's with 4+ years, or a Ph.D. with 2+ years, along with at least 5 years as an Electrical Engineer I or equivalent.Have 3+ years in variable speed drive / motor control design (power stage and control electronics)Have experience with Altium Designer for both PCB and wire harness designHave 5+ years with electronic simulation tools (Altium, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.)Strongly preferred to have experience with PCB design for Power Electronics System (Gate Drive Design for Converters or Inverters)Work in a way that works for you
