Shell Recharge Solutions is seeking a Platform Architect!
Shell Recharge Solutions is looking for a Platform Architect to join our engineering team
in leading and owning the platform design for a distributed multi-technology platform.
This platform is central to an e Mobility ecosystem that consists of massive worldwide
cloud infrastructure, Electric Vehicle Chargers (L2 and DCFC), Battery Energy Storage
systems, integration with Energy Utilities, Renewable Energy, and the
hardware/software to facilitate administration, predictive management, and
communication between sites and facilities.
What you’ll do:
• You will help raise the technical bar across the worldwide organization, drive a
data and results driven culture, and help nurture a high performance, world-
class Product and Technology team.
• You will work cross functionally across all Shell Group companies, to design and
architect a next-generation worldwide e Mobility technology platform.
• Provide technical leadership for the architecture and design of secure,
distributed, scalable, and resilient components, frameworks, and
microservices.
• Conduct component and system-level design reviews.
• Mentor and grow the design acumen for a team of globally distributed, talented,
diverse software engineers.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or equivalent experience
required.
• 15+ years of experience designing and shipping cloud services products.
• 15+ years of experience driving and managing technical and architectural
dependencies.
• 10+ years of experience with distributed systems delivering large-scale, secure,
and resilient cloud services.
• A firm understanding of system architecture, cloud computing, Paa S/Saa S
design principles, micro services, and containers.
AWS, Docker,
Kubernetes experience strongly preferred.
• Proven system level design contribution to a current “Live” (in production / under
daily high load) multi-region Saa S or Paa S offering.
• Experience with at least one Big Data analytic technology (Hadoop, Kafka, Spark,
SQL, or equivalent).
• Interface design with proficiency in object-oriented programming languages and
frameworks.
• Passion for and ability to quickly understand emerging technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Dev Ops/SRE models and a scrum/agile methodology.
• Mastery of software requirements, architecture, and documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to solve
problems and think outside of the box.
• Apply proven software design patterns to ensure maintainability, scalability, and
performance.
• Solve complex technical challenges with a strong focus on analytical
thinking, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
Required Skills & Experience:-
We are looking for candidates with strong hands-on experience in Java, including related technologies such as Microservices, Spring, and Spring Boot.
Preferred cloud experience is with AWS.
The ideal candidate should be highly proficient in end-to-end system design and architecture, with a deep understanding of platform architecture and design principles.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years in cloud services architecture and delivery.
• 10+ years in distributed systems and cloud-native technologies.
• Expertise in:
• Cloud Platforms: AWS (preferred), Azure, GCP
• Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
• Ia C & Dev Ops: Terraform, Cloud Formation, Jenkins, Git Hub Actions
• Monitoring & Security: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OAuth2, Zero Trust
• Programming and related technologies - Java
• Big Data: Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, SQL/No SQL
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design
patterns (e.g., Factory, Singleton, Observer, Strategy).
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems, identify bottlenecks, and
implement effective solutions.
• Experience with live, multi-region Saa S/Paa S platforms under high load.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Io T devices.
• Experience playing a lead role in a public company’s intellectual property,
protection/patent initiative, serving as ideation lead and possibly even as a
primary liaison between a technology team and patent counsel.
• Experience with hardware, embedded devices, Electric Vehicles (EV), EV
charging and/or battery systems.
