<p><p><b>Description :</b></p><br/><p><br/></p><p>We're looking for hands-on technical leaders to join as Staff or Principal Engineers and builders who can lead by doing.
You'll be the backbone of architectural decisions, drive scalability across domains, and solve complex distributed systems problems while mentoring teams through execution.
</p><p><br/></p><p>Each Staff/Principal Engineer is expected to own multiple initiatives or projects end-to-end, from design to rollout, working collaboratively across teams to drive business and technical :</b></p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Drive system design, platform architecture, and self-serve engineering capabilities across high-scale microservices and real-time data pipelines.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Own end-to-end delivery of critical initiatives, from scoping and design to deployment and scaling.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Own and lead multiple projects simultaneously, accountable for quality, performance, and timelines.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Lead by example as a hands-on developer, picking up the most complex pieces and turning ambiguity into working software.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Build scalable and resilient systems using Java (Spring Boot), Event-Driven Architectures, and NoSQL Solve real-time, high-throughput challenges across search, pricing, availability, and booking workflows.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Embrace an AI-powered development methodology (Claude, Cursor) to increase product release velocity and build accuracy.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Collaborate across teams (Product, Infra, Data, Architects) with a mindset of ownership and partnership.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Conduct rigorous design and code reviews with attention to clean code, performance, and :</b></p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- 7-12 years of backend development experience, with deep focus on Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate).</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Proven track record in owning systems, influencing architecture, and delivering critical projects independently or in small teams.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>Strong experience with :</p><br/><p><br/></p><p> - Distributed systems, event-driven architectures, SQS/Kinesis, backpressure, and fault tolerance.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p> - ScyllaDB, MongoDB, or other NoSQL databases.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p> - Performance profiling, memory management, and latency optimisations.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Deep systems thinking around consistency models, circuit breakers, low-latency design, and platform reliability.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Experience driving an automation-first culture, building tools, frameworks, or internal platforms.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Familiar with observability tools: Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Must be a goal-driven professional who focuses on driving measurable results and can effectively prioritise activities that directly contribute to business objectives.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Self-starter, go-getter, and problem solver with a growth mindset.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Comfortable in remote-first, async, and ownership-heavy environments.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Experience with LLM pipelines, RAG, or agentic AI workflows.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Exposure to Databricks, Spark, or other large-scale data processing frameworks.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Experience building internal platforms or golden paths to accelerate engineering teams.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Knowledge of React or full-stack systems.</p><br/><p><br/></p><p>- Prior experience in B2B marketplaces or travel-tech is a plus.</p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
