and operates as TMUS Global Solutions.About the Role:As Principal Engineer – Platform Automation, you will be a key member of the CFL Platform Engineering and Operations team ,you will lead architecture and development of automation frameworks, self-service tooling, and infrastructure-as-code systems that power scalable, resilient, and developer-friendly platforms.
You will build automation-first solutions that drive velocity, observability, and operational excellence across CI/CD, provisioning, and cloud-native infrastructure.What You’ll Do:Architect and build reusable automation services for provisioning, config, lifecycle, and complianceDevelop internal developer tooling and APIs for self-service workflowsLead event-driven automation using Git Lab CI/CD, Argo Workflows, or SpinnakerDrive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code via Terraform, Helm, Pulumi, and Git Ops pipelinesIntegrate automation with CI/CD, service catalogs, and platform orchestratorsEmbed observability, traceability, and telemetry into automation frameworksBuild systems for automated failure detection, triage, and remediationDefine platform-wide automation standards, architecture patterns, and best practicesCollaborate across SRE, Dev Ops, cloud, and security teams to automate operationsMentor engineers and guide platform engineering strategy for automation at scaleWhat You’ll Bring:Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field7-12 years in software/platform/automation engineering rolesExpertise in building large-scale automation systems and developer toolingStrong programming/scripting skills in Python, Go, Bash, or equivalentExperience with CI/CD platforms (Git Lab, Argo CD, Jenkins), job orchestrators, and workflow automationDeep knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, service orchestration, and Ia C (Terraform, Helm, Pulumi)Familiarity with event-driven automation using AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, or Event BridgeExperience building self-service developer platforms or internal portalsUnderstanding of platform security, secrets management, and compliance automationHands-on experience integrating observability, alerting, and incident workflowsStrong leadership, communication, and technical decision-making across cross-functional teamsPassion for platform simplicity, operational excellence, and empowering engineering teamsMust Have Skills:Application & Microservice: Java, Spring boot, API & Service DesignAny CI/CD Tools : Gitlab Pipeline/Test Automation/Git Hub Actions/ Jenkins /Circle CIApp Platform: Docker & Containers (Kubernetes)Any Databases : SQL & NOSQL (Cassandra/Oracle/Snowflake/Mongo DB)Any Messaging: Kafka, Rabbit MQAny Observability/Monitoring: Splunk/ Grafana/ Open Telemetry /ELK Stack/ Datadog/ New Relic/ Prometheus)AI/Machine learning: Anomaly detectionNice To Have:Closed-loop remediation (vendor integration: Akamai, Cequence, FICO)ML governance (bias, audit, rollback)Org-wide AIOps vision & roadmapROI storytelling (Incident/Change/Problem s prevented, $$ saved)Vendor strategy, build-vs-buy
