<p>Job Summary :</p><p> <br/>We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Developer with a strong background in Oracle database development.
The role involves designing, writing, and optimizing SQL and PL/pgSQL code, migrating database logic from Oracle to PostgreSQL, and working closely with application teams to implement data-driven solutions.<br/><br/></p><p>This is a development-focused role, not a database administration position.<br/><br/>Roles and Responsibilities : <br/><br/></p><p>- Develop and maintain functions, stored procedures, triggers, views, and other database objects in PostgreSQL.</p><p><br/>- Understand and translate existing Oracle PL/SQL code to PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL.<br/><br/></p><p>- Analyze and improve query performance and execution plans.<br/><br/></p><p>- Work closely with application developers to implement and test database logic.<br/><br/></p><p>- Participate in database design, data modeling, and schema optimization.<br/><br/></p><p>- Handle data transformations and migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL.<br/><br/></p><p>- Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to support application testing and deployment.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ensure code quality, reusability, and proper documentation of database components.<br/><br/>Required Skills : <br/><br/></p><p>- 7 -12 years of experience in SQL development with a focus on PostgreSQL.</p><p><br/>- Strong hands-on experience in PL/pgSQL and writing complex queries.<br/><br/></p><p>- Solid experience with Oracle PL/SQL, including procedures, packages, cursors, and exception <br/>handling.<br/><br/></p><p>- Experience in migrating business logic and data from Oracle to PostgreSQL.<br/><br/></p><p>- Good understanding of relational database design, joins, indexing, and normalization.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ability to troubleshoot and tune slow-running SQL queries.<br/><br/></p><p>- Familiarity with tools for comparing schemas and code between Oracle and PostgreSQL.<br/><br/>Preferred Skills : <br/><br/></p><p>- Experience working with Oracle to PostgreSQL migration tools (e.g., ora2pg, AWS SCT).<br/><br/></p><p>- Familiarity with cloud-based PostgreSQL (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure PostgreSQL).<br/><br/></p><p>- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Shell, or Perl for automation tasks.<br/><br/></p><p>- Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git) and working in agile teams.<br/><br/></p><p>- Basic knowledge of JSON, array types, and full-text search in PostgreSQL.</p> (ref:hirist.tech)
