About This Opportunity:

Job Title: Software Engineer II - Android

Location: 7-Eleven Global Solution Center, India

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented Senior Android Developer to join our mobile development team.

This role focuses on building navigation and app framework-based applications, leveraging Google Maps, Mapbox, and other APIs to deliver high-quality Android apps for driving and last-mile delivery use cases.

In addition to navigation-heavy features, this role will involve working on modularization, authentication, permissions, observability, and app stability enhancements within the App Framework domain.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend developers to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-friendly Android applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain advanced Android applications with navigation, mapping, and real-time tracking features.
• Integrate Google Maps, Mapbox, and location frameworks for routing, geolocation, and turn-by-turn navigation.
• Develop and optimize drive-centric features like trip management, route optimization, and vehicle tracking.
• Work on modularization of app framework, navigation shell, and design system upgrades.
• Implement authentication, session handling, and secure app permissions.
• Add and manage feature flags, remote configuration, and A/B testing frameworks.
• Contribute to observability, telemetry hooks, and crash prevention modules.
• Upgrade and manage third-party SDKs while ensuring app stability.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and maintain scalable data flows.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning for map and app framework components.
• Manage app releases through Google Play Store and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor junior developers and share best practices in navigation and app framework development.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Android development experience.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin/Java and Android SDK.
• Hands-on experience with Google Maps, Mapbox, or equivalent mapping APIs.
• Solid understanding of Android frameworks (Location Services, Jetpack, Room, etc.).
• Experience working on app modularization, navigation shell, and design systems.
• Background in implementing authentication, permissions, and secure app practices.
• Proven ability in consuming RESTful APIs and handling real-time, location-based data.
• Knowledge of architecture patterns (MVVM, MVP, Clean Architecture).
• Experience publishing and managing apps in the Google Play Store.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD for Android development.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Exposure to cloud-based services such as Firebase, AWS, or other platforms for geospatial data.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android development practices.
• Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and analytics SDKs (Firebase, Mixpanel, Adobe Analytics).
• Background in building frameworks or SDKs for broader engineering teams.
• Experience with performance optimization, observability, and reducing app crashes.
