The Senior Director, Platform Architecture is a leadership role, responsible for collaborating across technology groups and business units/areas to contribute to the integration, enhancement, and general direction for technology platforms used within the organization.



The objective of this role is to ensure the optimal functioning of relevant platforms and to achieve Managed Services/Services Sales initiatives and targets.



The Senior Director, Platform Architecture manages the creation of platforms, related automation, and the corresponding business changes needed to enable sustainable platform operation aligned to client needs.

This role manages a team of Platform Architects and is responsible for fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture, focused on operational excellence.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a trusted advisor on optimal platform designs and the strategy that will meet client and business requirements.
  • Uses client and business requirements to advise on the design, deployment, and operations of platforms.
  • Manages Managed Services solution technical design aligned with organizational capabilities.
  • Required to specialize in a specific platform and to integrate this expertise with holistic platform architecture knowledge which may include collaboratively designing key components of the platform.
  • Manages the development of complex solutions that adhere to functional and non-functional requirements (including usability, reliability, performance, supportability, and security).
  • Bridges the platform integration gap between the client and internal Service and Technical Architects (GTM, Dev, Delivery practices), whilst managing multiple technology stakeholder interests.
  • Implements strategies and solutions that define meta-architectural designs for complex solutions that will address issues such as styles, concepts, mechanisms, modularity, scalability, and principles that combine to formulate the architectural vision for a specific environment.
  • Implements the infrastructure strategy for platform design, integration, and interoperability.
  • Interacts with vendors as required to obtain full knowledge of vendor roadmaps, new developments, and new product offerings.
  • Takes responsibility for the operational management of a team of Platform Architects.
  • Demonstrates the ability to collaborate and work with multiple stakeholders and work successfully with teams to achieve their goals.
  • Displays an understanding of the business’ needs and expectations and the ability to consistently deliver a quality solution that meets client and business requirements
  • Provides technical leadership and mentor Platform Architects to deliver a high-quality solution.


    • Knowledge and Attributes:

  • Significantly vast knowledge of project management principles and ensure projects are executed accordingly.
  • Displays significantly vast client service orientation and strive for client satisfaction.
  • Has significantly vast knowledge of platform design best practice.
  • Significantly vast understanding of technical applications, infrastructure, integration architectures, Managed Service Platform, cloud architectures, data and security integration practices, and DevOps.
  • Significantly vast understanding of technical architectures, Managed Service Platform, cloud architectures, integration practices, and DevOps (e.g., applications, data center, cloud, network, collaboration).
  • Significantly vast ability to lead technical design workshops with the client and internal business stakeholders.
  • Significantly vast ability to design, manage and close a technical proof of concept on a vendor product.
  • Significantly vast knowledge as an architect in technical architectures, Managed Service Platform, cloud architectures, integration practices, and DevOps (for example, applications, data center, cloud, network, collaboration).
  • Significantly vast understanding of project management processes and methodologies.


    • Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Relevant qualification (Technical or Business).
  • Certification and working knowledge of Cloud Architect Azure, AWS, CGP.
  • Certification and working knowledge in Microservices (Principle, Patterns both greenfield and brownfield), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Enterprise Access Integration (EAI), and Integration Patterns.
  • Certification and working knowledge with Cloud, Data Centre, Applications platform integrations, RESTful APIs, including JSON, XML, and SOAP protocols.
  • Certification and working knowledge with Software Development Lifecycle and tools, Agile methodology.


    • Required Experience:

  • Significantly vast track record in the area of business analysis and platform architecture.
  • Significantly vast experience with Service/Application/Infrastructure and Cloud Architectures, Microservice (Principle, Patterns both greenfield and brownfield), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Enterprise Access Integration (EAI), and Integration Patterns.
  • Significantly vast experience with Cloud, Data Centre, Applications platform integrations, RESTful APIs, including JSON, XML, and SOAP protocols.
  • Significantly vast experience with Software Development Lifecycle and tools, Scrum/Agile methodology.
  • Background as a system administrator or developer would be advantageous.
  • Significantly vast experience in and with all operational aspects of a Services business, preferably with a Systems Integrator.
  • Significantly vast experience in the process of developing and implementing new services and systems.
  • Significantly vast knowledge and understanding of IT industry environment and business needs, combined with an excellent understanding of the business process, applications, and infrastructure architecture.
  • Significantly vast experience as a people and resource manager.
