Orbitt Space is a spacetech startup founded by ex-ISRO scientists and engineers , developing next-generation ion propulsion systems  for ultra-low Earth orbit (ULEO ~200 km)  satellites.
Our propulsion systems integrate high-voltage power electronics  with DSP-based real-time control systems  to achieve precise and stable plasma operation in orbit.
Role Overview 
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer  with deep expertise in DSP programming for power electronics  to lead firmware development for our propulsion power systems.
 You will design and optimize control algorithms , PWM generation , and closed-loop DSP firmware  for high-voltage converter systems, enabling efficient plasma control and spacecraft stability.
Key Responsibilities 
- Architect, develop, and maintain firmware for TI C2000x DSPs  (F2837xD, F28004x, etc.).
 
 
- Implement and tune closed-loop PID control  for voltage and current regulation.
 
 
- Design and manage PWM generation , ADC/DAC configuration , and interrupt-based control loops .
 
 
- Develop bootloader firmware  for modular and upgradable system architectures.
 
 
- Simulate and validate control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink .
 
 
- Integrate and test firmware with power electronics hardware , performing real-time debugging and tuning.
 
 
- Lead HIL testing , firmware validation, and safety feature implementation.
 
 
- Collaborate with hardware and systems teams to ensure closed-loop stability and performance.
 
 
- Mentor junior engineers in firmware design, control algorithms, and system integration.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications 
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree  in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, or related field.
 
 
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience  in embedded firmware development  for power electronics systems .
 
 
- Proven experience with TI C2000x DSPs  (e.g., F2837xD, F28004x series) for real-time control .
 
 
- Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ , Code Composer Studio , and bootloader development .
 
 
- Expertise in PWM generation , ADC/DAC interfacing , interrupt handling , and closed-loop PID control .
 
 
- Solid foundation in control theory , digital compensator design , and signal processing .
 
 
- Ability to design and implement real-time firmware architectures  for converter control.
 
 
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink  for control simulation and validation.
 
 
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and hardware integration skills.
 
 
Preferred Experience 
- Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers  for system-level coordination.
 
 
- Familiarity with FPGA-based PWM or protection logic  (VHDL/Verilog).
 
 
- Experience with DC-DC converter control  (buck, boost, resonant, full-bridge, or LLC).
 
 
- Hands-on experience in power electronics hardware testing, validation, and debugging .
 
 
- Understanding of fault protection , telemetry , and system safety mechanisms .
 
 
- Exposure to high-voltage or aerospace-qualified electronic systems .
 
 
- Knowledge of communication protocols  (SPI, UART, I2C, CAN).
 
 
- Experience working in cross-functional R&D environments  involving hardware and control systems.
