Position Overview:We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing team.
In this role, you will be crucial in developing and maintaining our backend systems, focusing on Node JS and the AWS Serverless stack.
You will tackle complex technical challenges and contribute in building robust, high-performance services that power our platform.
Required Skills & Qualifications:Experience:5-7 years of professional software development experience.3-5 years of hands-on experience developing backend services with Node JS.2-3 years of experience developing, deploying, and managing applications on cloud platforms, preferably AWS.Technical Skills (Must Have):Strong proficiency in Type Script and/or modern Java Script (ES6+).Expertise with Node JS and associated testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cucumber).Deep understanding and hands-on experience with the AWS Native Serverless stack (API Gateway, Lambda, Kinesis, Event Bridge, SQS, SNS, App Sync, Dynamo DB, S3 are key).Proven experience developing and implementing Graph QL APIs, REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.Experience with Postgres and No SQL databases (like Dynamo DB).Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (specifically AWS CDK) and automation tools (Git Lab CI preferred, others acceptable).Responsibilities:Build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and scalable backend frameworks, applications, and services primarily using Node JS, Type Script, and AWS Serverless technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis, Event Bridge, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, App Sync, Dynamo DB, S3).
Python experience is also valued.Develop and consume Graph QL and REST APIs within a microservices and event-driven architecture.Actively participate in peer code reviews, ensuring code quality, adherence to standards, and knowledge sharing.Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve complex performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges across the backend systems.Write comprehensive and effective unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using frameworks like Jest and Cucumber to ensure application reliability.Contribute to the build-out, and maintenance of modern CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK) and automation tools (Git Lab CI or similar).Troubleshoot, research, and work through complex technical problems independently and collaboratively.Contribute to architectural discussions and advocate for sound engineering practices.Effectively manage assigned tasks and contribute to multiple initiatives concurrently, demonstrating flexibility, attention to detail, and effective prioritization.General Skills:Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and complex problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Highly attentive to detail, organized, and flexible.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Preferred Skills & Qualifications:Domain knowledge in Fin Tech or the Mortgage industry.Experience working with custom event-based Workflow/Orchestration systems.Professional experience with Python.Experience implementing and managing feature flags.Experience with API versioning strategies (semantic versioning).Experience working within an Agile/SCRUM development process using Jira.
