Our platform delivers conversational AI-driven learning through the 4D Process (Discover, Discuss, Deliver, Demonstrate), helping learners progress from their current role to their dream career with personalised guidance, formal qualifications, and transparent career pathways.

We need an experienced frontend developer who understands B2C user experiences and can build polished, responsive interfaces that learners genuinely love using.

You'll be implementing designs from Figma, creating reusable component libraries, and ensuring our conversational AI learning interface feels natural, intuitive, and delightful.

This isn't building internal dashboards.

You'll be crafting consumer-grade experiences where UX details matter enormously - smooth animations, perfect responsive behaviour, accessibility compliance, and interfaces that work brilliantly for neurodivergent learners.

Immediate Projects:

• Career Pathways Visualisation - Interactive cards showing progression routes with readiness scores
• Assessment Progress Tracker - Real-time status dashboard for OFQUAL qualification criteria
• Conversational Learning Interface - Multi-agent AI conversation UI with voice/video support
• Gamification Dashboard - Streaks, badges, achievements, and progress celebrations
• Responsive Learning Flows - Mobile-first 4D process across all breakpoints

Enhancement Work:

• Component library expansion following design system
• Performance optimisation for smooth 60fps interactions
• Accessibility improvements (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance)
• Animation and micro-interaction polish
• State management for complex multi-step learner journeys

Primary Technologies:

• React - Modern functional components, hooks, context
• TypeScript - Strict typing, interfaces, type safety throughout
• Tailwind CSS - Utility-first styling, custom design system
• Component Libraries - shadcn/ui, Radix UI primitives, or similar
• State Management - Context API, React Query, or Redux

Essential Skills:

• Responsive design implementation (mobile-first approach)
• Performance optimisation (lazy loading, code splitting, memoization)
• Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, ARIA, keyboard navigation)
• API integration and data fetching patterns
• Git workflows and code review practices

You Must Have:

• 5+ years React development in production B2C applications
• 3+ years TypeScript in production (not just basic types)
• Proven experience building consumer-facing products with >10,000 users
• Strong portfolio demonstrating polished UI work
• Experience implementing designs from Figma with high fidelity
• Mobile-first responsive design implementation expertise
• API integration with RESTful services

B2C Experience Is Critical: You've built applications where:

• User delight matters more than feature density
• Smooth animations and transitions are expected
• Mobile experience is as important as desktop
• Accessibility isn't optional
• Performance directly impacts user retention
• Every pixel and interaction is intentional

Ideally You Also Have:

• Experience with AI chat interfaces or conversational UIs
• WebRTC or real-time communication features
• Progressive Web App (PWA) implementation
• Animation libraries (Framer Motion, React Spring)
• Testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright)
• Experience with learning platforms or EdTech
• Understanding of neurodiversity-friendly design

This role isn't suitable if you:

• Primarily build internal enterprise dashboards
• Haven't worked on consumer-facing products
• Don't have production TypeScript experience
• Need close supervision to implement designs
• View accessibility as nice to have
• Haven't worked with modern React patterns (hooks, context, etc.)

Conversational AI Interface: You'll be building a multi-modal learning companion interface with:

• Text, voice, and video conversation support
• Real-time AI response rendering
• Dynamic content adaptation based on learner needs
• Smooth transitions between learning phases
• Context-aware UI that adapts to 18 different AI agent personalities

Example User Journeys:

• Discovery - Learner inputs career goals → AI matches to 5,000+ roles → Shows personalised career pathways
• Learning - Conversational dialogue → AI asks questions → Learner responds → Real-time progress updates
• Assessment - Evidence submission → AI validation → Immediate feedback → Progress celebration

Technical Challenges:

• Rendering AI responses with proper formatting, citations, and interactive elements
• Handling real-time data updates without janky UI
• Managing complex state across multi-step learning journeys
• Optimising performance for low-bandwidth scenarios
• Supporting multiple learning styles through adaptive UI

You'll work with:

• Figma designs - Comprehensive designs covering authentication, 4D process, dashboards
• Design system - Established colour palette, typography, spacing, component patterns
• Component library - shadcn/ui base + custom Zavmo components

Components You'll Build:

• Career pathway cards (interactive, expandable)
• Progress trackers (qualification progress, assessment criteria)
• Conversation bubbles (AI agent responses, learner inputs)
• Status badges (complete, in progress, not started)
• Gamification elements (badges, streaks, achievements)
• Readiness score indicators (visual progress bars)
• Modal dialogs, tooltips, notifications
• Responsive navigation patterns

Frontend Architecture:

• React 18+ with TypeScript
• Tailwind CSS for styling
• Vite or Next.js for build tooling
• shadcn/ui component primitives
• React Query for data fetching
• React Router for navigation

Integration Points:

• RESTful APIs for agent communication
• WebSocket connections for real-time updates
• Authentication (SSO/Active Directory)
• Learning Record Store (xAPI)
• External LMS integration (MLC/Workday)

• First Contentful Paint <1.5s
• Time to Interactive <3s
