<p><p><b>Senior Solutions Architect</b><br/><br/>We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect with deep expertise in Java-based microservices architecture to lead resiliency reviews and architectural improvements across high-scale production services for a global banking client.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on identifying single points of failure, implementing fault-tolerant patterns (retry, timeout, circuit breaker, fallback), and aligning services with 12-factor app principles and cloud-native best practices.<br/><br/>You will collaborate with developers, DevOps, and SRE teams to embed resiliency into CI/CD pipelines, lead failure mode assessments, and contribute to enterprise-wide architecture decisions in a regulated, mission-critical environment.<br/><br/><b>Mode : </b> Hybrid (3 days/week in : </b> US-based Multinational Period : </b> Immediate to 21 days</p><p><br/><b>Key Responsibilities : </b></p></p><p><br/></p><p>- Lead resiliency assessments and reviews of existing Java-based microservices and APIs across production systems.<br/><br/></p><p>- Identify architectural weaknesses and SPOFs; implement or guide solutions using timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, and fallback logic.<br/><br/></p><p>- Align services with cloud-native patterns and the 12-factor app methodology to ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability.<br/><br/></p><p>- Configure and optimize resilience libraries such as Resilience4j or Hystrix.<br/><br/></p><p>- Work with CI/CD teams to integrate resiliency into build pipelines, enabling regression testing and automated validation of fault tolerance.<br/><br/></p><p>- Participate in failure mode and impact analysis (FMEA) workshops and contribute to system hardening strategies.<br/><br/></p><p>- Collaborate with SRE and observability teams to monitor service health using logs, metrics, and tracing tools (e.g., Kibana, Grafana, Splunk).<br/><br/></p><p>- Contribute to reference architectures and best practices documentation related to resiliency and distributed system design.<br/><br/></p><p>- Assist in cloud deployment strategies (preferably Azure) and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.<br/><br/><b>Technical Skills & Expertise :</b></p><p><br/><b>Must-Have Skills :</b></p><p><p><b><br/></b></p>- Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud : Expertise in developing, debugging, and deploying microservices using annotations, DI, Spring profiles, and configuration-based setups.<br/><br/></p><p>- Microservices Architecture : Strong grasp of service decomposition, contract-first API design, and inter-service resiliency strategies.<br/><br/></p><p>- Cloud Deployments (Azure Preferred) : Experience deploying to managed platforms (AKS, ECS, etc.) with exposure to cloud-native HA configurations, load balancing, and secrets management.<br/><br/></p><p>- REST API Development : Proficient in secure API design with versioning, validation, error handling, and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.<br/><br/></p><p>- Resiliency Engineering : Hands-on experience configuring retry, timeout, circuit breaker, and fallback mechanisms using Resilience4j or Hystrix.<br/><br/></p><p>- Kafka / Event Messaging : Familiarity with producer/consumer patterns, retries, and dead-letter queues for asynchronous communication.<br/><br/></p><p>- Configuration Management : Experience tuning resilience features via application.yml including thread pool settings, bulkheads, and backoff strategies.<br/><br/></p><p>- Docker & Kubernetes : Able to containerize and deploy services using Dockerfiles and K8s YAML/Helm charts.
Capable of debugging pod failures and managing probes.<br/><br/></p><p>- CI/CD Resiliency Integration : Worked with CI tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions to enforce resilience gates and validations.<br/><br/></p><p>- Observability : Able to interpret logs and metrics through Kibana, Splunk, or Grafana.
Familiar with correlation IDs and basic distributed tracing.<br/><br/></p><p>- Failure Mode Analysis / SPOF Detection : Participated in identifying failure points and mitigation strategies across service dependencies.<br/><br/><b>Nice-to-Have Skills : </b><br/><br/></p><p>- Graceful Degradation : Basic configuration of fallback behavior and degradation hierarchies in service implementations.<br/><br/></p><p>- Chaos Engineering Tools (e.g., Gremlin, Chaos Mesh) : Awareness of failure simulation methodologies and tooling, even if not </p><p>implemented hands-on.<br/><br/></p><p>- Service Mesh Concepts (Istio, Linkerd) : Understanding of traffic management, circuit breaking at the mesh layer, and service observability.<br/><br/></p><p>- CQRS / Event Sourcing : Conceptual understanding of command-query separation and event-driven persistence models.<br/><br/></p><p>- SAP S4/Hana API Integration : Awareness of architectural considerations when interfacing with SAP systems (not critical).</p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
