<p><p><b>Position Overview :</b></p><p><p><b><br/></b></p>We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Server & Infrastructure Monitoring Support Engineer to join our IT Operations team.
This is a Level 1 monitoring profile with exposure to initial troubleshooting tasks across server and infrastructure environments.
This is not a full engineering role, but it provides a solid foundation for individuals looking to grow within server administration and infrastructure support functions.<br/><br/><b>Key Responsibilities :</b></p><p><p><b><br/></b></p>- Perform Level 1 monitoring and initial troubleshooting for server and infrastructure components.<br/><br/></p><p>- Monitor system health using tools such as Nagios, identifying and escalating issues as needed.<br/><br/></p><p>- Respond to alerts, raise tickets, and track incidents using ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, Jira).<br/><br/></p><p>- Document incidents, routine checks, and responses accurately and thoroughly.<br/><br/></p><p>- Perform basic troubleshooting of Windows Server environments and Microsoft applications.<br/><br/></p><p>- Collaborate with senior engineers and infrastructure teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.<br/><br/></p><p>- Maintain a strong understanding of server performance metrics, logs, and monitoring best practices.<br/><br/></p><p>- Support operations in a 24/5 rotational shift environment.<br/><br/><b>Required Qualifications & Experience :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Minimum 4 years of experience supporting server and infrastructure environments<br/>OR<br/><br/></p><p>- A Technical Diploma/Degree in IT with 3+ years of relevant experience in proactive server support.<br/><br/><b>Advanced knowledge of :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- TCP/IP networking<br/><br/></p><p>- Windows Operating Systems (2003, 2008, 2012)<br/><br/></p><p>- Certification: MCSE (2003/2008) Mandatory (Windows/Server specialization).<br/><br/></p><p>- Minimum 2 years of experience administering and monitoring with Nagios.<br/><br/></p><p>- Familiarity with ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy).<br/><br/><b>Working knowledge of :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- PowerShell scripting<br/><br/></p><p>- Microsoft Application Suite troubleshooting<br/><br/></p><p>- Basic networking concepts<br/><br/></p><p>- Unix/Linux environments<br/><br/></p><p>- Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)<br/><br/></p><p>- Cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure)<br/><br/><b>Additional Skills & Attributes :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).<br/><br/></p><p>- Strong written and verbal communication skills.<br/><br/></p><p>- Basic troubleshooting methodology and ability to follow documented SOPs.<br/><br/><b>Preferred Qualities :</b><br/><br/></p><p>- Strong attention to detail with a structured and organized approach.<br/><br/></p><p>- A learning mindset and eagerness to grow into deeper technical roles.<br/><br/></p><p>- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle multiple alerts/incidents efficiently.</p><br/></p> (ref:hirist.tech)
