We deliver updates to every Windows-based device in the world to protect users and enable them to be productive.
While Security remains our primary focus, we also enable our commercial and enterprise customers by enabling new device support, addressing reliability and upgrade blocking issues.
Our work is critical for the Windows family of devices, SurfaceHub, Azure and more.
We are an agile team and ship twice every month, impacting over a billion Windows devices in the ecosystem.
You will collaborate with your teammates in IDC, and your partner teams in Ireland and Redmond, Washington, USA.
Our **Customer Focused Engineering (CFE)** team is looking for highly motivated **Software Engineers** to help us in this mission.
**You will play a key role in extending and modifying Windows Operating system code** for keeping our customer base secure, improving the reliability of the platform, addressing customer reported issues, and developing features to light up new scenarios and devices in the Windows ecosystem (PCs, Phones, Servers, SurfaceHub, Azure and more).
You would get to work in some of the **core components of the Windows Operating System ranging from** **Shell, Graphics, Multimedia,** **Networking stack** **, Kernel,** **Security** **layer** **,** **to several Server components including AD, Cluster, Storage etc** .
**Responsibilities**
+ Reproducing, debugging and fixing customer-reported problems.
+ Fixing externally and internally found security vulnerabilities and all the potential variants.
+ Crafting high-quality, bug-free fixes with minimum application compatibility risk.
+ Adding new features in Windows.
+ Prioritizing your collection of work and delivering fixes in a timely fashion to meet deadlines.
+ Collaborating with escalation engineers and other partner teams across Microsoft to debug, develop, test and ship updates.
+ Finding ways to improve products, tools, and processes for long-term benefit for Microsoft and customers.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ 3+ years of professional software development experience.
+ Proven design and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.
+ Proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
+ The ability to work well in a diverse, global, team-focused environment.
+ BS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
+ Experience with relevant programming skills in C#, C++ or equivalent
**Preferred Qualification**
+ Ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, and debug server-side, multi-threaded, and highly scalable applications.
+ Experience in working with Windows system level programming and developing device drivers.
+ Demonstrated results working with a global team.
+ Experience with agile/scrum methodologies.
+ **Other Requirements:** Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role.
These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
