<p>Position Overview :<br/><br/>We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer with 4-6 years of experience in Fortran programming and complex SQL queries, preferably in an OpenVMS environment.
The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in legacy system maintenance and modernization, as well as the flexibility to cross-skill into Java technologies.
This role requires a mix of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities to collaborate across IT and business stakeholders.<br/><br/>Key Responsibilities :<br/><br/>- Work on mission-critical systems developed using customized Fortran and Java technologies.<br/><br/>- Perform application-level performance analysis and tuning for Fortran-based applications.<br/><br/>- Maintain and enhance existing applications in OpenVMS and other environments.<br/><br/>- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for performance and accuracy.<br/><br/>- Identify application bottlenecks and bugs, and provide effective solutions.<br/><br/>- Proactively monitor systems to identify failures and implement preventive actions.<br/><br/>- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business, IT, and other supporting services.<br/><br/>- Maintain thorough documentation for code, configurations, and processes.<br/><br/>- Drive and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the application landscape.<br/><br/>- Assist in maintaining code quality and promoting automation opportunities.<br/><br/>Technical Skills Required : </p><p><br/></p><p>- 4-6 years of hands-on experience with Fortran programming, including customized/legacy implementations.<br/><br/>- Strong experience in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.<br/><br/>- Proficiency in OpenVMS operating system environments.<br/><br/>- Familiarity or willingness to cross-skill in Java technology stacks.<br/><br/>- Experience with application performance tuning and profiling.<br/><br/>- Strong understanding of code quality, debugging, and automation best practices.<br/><br/>Soft Skills & Additional Requirements : </p><p><br/></p><p>- Strong communication and coordination skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.<br/><br/>- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.<br/><br/>- Proactive in identifying system issues and offering preventive and corrective measures.<br/><br/>- Passion for continuous improvement and technology modernization.<br/><br/>- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.</p> (ref:hirist.tech)
