Role summary:

This opening is for a Senior Systems Engineer within International Systems Engineering Organization, Wabtec Astana, The purpose of this role is to lead all the system engineering activities related to the customer requirements, subsystem and system development, and delivery of new locomotives to the international customers.

This role includes customer interface, program management, requirement management, monitoring subsystem development, systems integration, build support, systems validation, in country validation, commissioning and launch support.

This role has the responsibility to work collaboratively and strategically with globally diverse stakeholders to deliver best in class product configuration meeting business objectives and customer requirement.

This role is also responsible for shaping the product considering reuse, leveraging standardization, modularization in consultation with product management and other cross functions.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

Basic Requirement & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanicl / Electrical, Electronics (or) Controls Engineering from a university of repute Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience preferably in locomotive domain or similar industry Minimum of 5 years’ design experience in relevant specialization.

Strong understanding & knowledge of Requirements Management, DFMEA, Design to Cost, Bill of Material Structure, Standardization, Verification, Validation, Technical Publication, and defect reporting Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly & serviceability requirements Good understanding of configurable software options design and selection.

Hands on experience in factory support, production testing, engineering validation and commissioning Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a cross-functional, global teams Demonstrated experience in influencing at all levels of the organization and customer relationship skill

Desired:

Master’s degree in engineering Proven record of practicing systems engineering tools and techniques Good understanding of customer requirements in international locomotives domain Demonstrated experience and ability to execute NPI programs Technical depth in freight & passenger locomotive application & subsystem design through validation Familiarity with the range of technologies as applicable to freight/passenger Locomotives including but not limited to diesel and battery electric locomotives Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems using quality tools Six Sigma Green Belt certification will be a plus Strong technical aptitude, including hands on experience on the use of engineering tools Strong oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers Experience in techno commercial proposals
